Elections Are a Window for Change

Elections Are Happening Now!

Three LAUSD board seats are on the ballot this year—Districts 2, 4, and 6.

Candidates and current board members are paying attention to what families are asking for. This is a moment to speak up about play.

Ask them:
Where they stand on expanding and protecting play time in schools.

Districts 2, 4, and 6

  • District 2 – Rocío Rivas

  • District 4 – Nick Melvoin

  • District 6 – Kelly Gonez

These 3 races can shape the direction of the entire district

Quick Message You Can Send to your Rep:

LAUSD Board Primary Election Date: June 2, 2026

Hi [Board Member Name],

I’m a parent/community member in your district and wanted to share a concern about how little time students have for meaningful, usntructured play during the school day.

I know the 30-minute recess requirement is a step forward, but in practice it often doesn’t translate into real, usable play time for our kids.

I’d love to see LAUSD expand and protect meaningful play time so students have what they need to learn, connect, and regulate.

Thank you for your leadership,
[Your Name]
